Claymore Challenge July 15-18th At Highland Mountain Bike Park

Highland Mountain Bike Park will host the 2nd Annual Highland Claymore Challenge, July 15-18th. Highland will host the world’s best freeriders, who will compete on the Killecrankie slopestyle track designed by Dave Smutok. They will also battle it out to win the Knight of Highland cash prize and bragging rights.

Freeriding will be available at the park from Wednesday, the 15th. Invited pros as well as last chance qualifiers will be able to use the slopestyle course on Thursday. It’s not just about sick riding. IZ-Style will entertain spectators and fans with live music on the main stage. You can also take a tour through Eco-Village to see a Trek or Rocky Mountain bike, and get autographs from pro athletes. There will also be BBQ and the Sam Adams Beer Garden. You can also pick up a Claymore souvenir mug and tee-shirt. The fun doesn’t end at the podium ceremony. Stay on Saturday night for the Claymore after party at the Highland Lodge.

Claymore Challenge is currently in development.

The first Claymore, last year’s inaugural event, was a preview of what might be in store for East Coast slopestyle action. Mark Hayes, Highland Mountain General manager, said that if you enjoyed last year’s Claymore, then you’ll be amazed at what the Highland crew has in store for Claymore Challenge 5,103 cm

I’m thrilled that the 2009 slopestyle season begins with the Claymore, says Tyler McCaul (GT Bikes). The Highland crew have created a course that we riders love to ride every year. The course is very easy to ride for competitors and allows spectators to enjoy a spectacular show. I cannot wait to start riding on Thursday!

No worries if you are unable to make it in person. Our friends at DH Productions will be onsite filming, and broadcasting on Freecaster.TV. For highlights and results, keep checking in throughout the day.
