Roland Green won a cross-country course that was technically challenging
Many referred to round 2 of the Chevy Trucks National off-road bicycling Association National Championships Mountain Bike Series at Snowshoe Mountain Resort as « epic ».

Ruthie Matthes, (Trek Volkswagen), Durango, Colo. was third and Marc Gullickson, (Mongoose-Hyundai), Boulder (Colo.) ninth. Other top US men were also affected by mechanical issues.

Grigson and Chrissy competed in the 16.5-mile women’s race.

Susan Haywood, a local rider (Trek/West Virginia Tourism), achieved the feat.
Fifth-place was her best finish in her career.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort, W.Va. June 23rd, 2003 – Three thousand enthusiastic spectators cheered Wade Bootes, Leigh Donovan to victory at the second round Chevy Trucks National Championship Mountain Bicycle Series.

After a dramatic encounter, Brian Lopes (GT/Fox) from Laguna Beach, Calif., Bootes(Trek/Volkswagen), Australia was awarded first place after Lopes slid out at the last gate ten yards before the finish.

Steve Peat (GT), Great Britain’s pre-race favourite, was forced to settle for fourth place when his chain broke racing against Michael Deldyke(Schwinn), France in the third-place contest.

Mission Viejo’s Leigh Donovan, (Schwinn), successfully defended her series lead, beating out Tara Llanes, Yeti/Pearl Izumi, Brea, for first.

Missy Giove, Global Racing, Durango, who rode for Katrina Miller, Australia (Jamis), for third place, crashed hard at the top section, giving Miller an easy win.

Snowshoe, W.Va. 24 June 2001 Missy Giove (W.Va.), and Steve Peat (W.Va.), won the pro women’s and men’s downhill races on a challenging course in difficult conditions on round two of Chevy Trucks National Championship Mountain Bicycle Series at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

The international athletes were very complimentary after having participated in two European world cup events within the last three weeks. Steve Peat (Great Britain), the current world cup leader, commented that the technical difficulty here was significantly higher than at the two courses in France and Slovenia. Mickael Deldycke (Schwinn), a French rider, said that the course reminded of his home country.

Leigh Donovan (Capistrano Beach), Calif. (Schwinn) sat in Capistrano Beach’s hot seat as race leader until Missy Giove (Durango, Colo., Global Racing) came down with a time that han Donovan.

Marla Streb from San Geronimo (Calif.) (Foes/Azonic), who was the fastest in practice, entered dramatic fashion into the finish area with a crash into barriers and a fourth place finish time. April Lawyer, Big Bear Lake (Calif.) Maxxis Tires took the third place result, her best to-date.

Gioves’ win places her ahead of Streb in the series lead, with Lawyer in third.

Deldycke was the man of the men’s race, occupying the hot seat at Page 1/3

After finishing fifth today, Chris Kovarik (Australia) (Intense/Foes) now leads the series. Colin Bailey is the top rider in France, finishing fifth overall.
